Higher-protein diets have been studied for effects on body weight, satiety and body composition. A 2012 systematic review in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reported benefits across several cardiometabolic and weight-related outcomes, while noting that diet quality and context matter.

Resistance training plus protein supplementation has also been studied in relation to lean mass and strength. A 2018 meta-analysis in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found protein supplementation can augment resistance-training adaptations, especially when training is consistent.
