A flexible Wegovy diet plan.
Wegovy does not come with a universal menu. For many people already prescribed semaglutide, the useful food pattern is straightforward: eat smaller amounts slowly, prioritise nutrient-dense foods, include protein regularly, add fibre and fluids as tolerated, and adjust around symptoms with clinical support.
What should you eat on Wegovy? Start with a protein food you tolerate, add vegetables or fruit, include an appropriate serve of higher-fibre carbohydrate, and drink regularly through the day. Smaller meals may feel more comfortable than large ones. Your health conditions, medicines and symptoms determine the right quantities.
Build meals from foods you can tolerate.
Protein anchors
Eggs, yoghurt, cottage cheese, fish, chicken, lean meat, tofu, tempeh and legumes. If appetite is limited, begin with the protein portion rather than leaving it until last.
Vegetables and fruit
Use a variety of colours and textures. Cooked vegetables or softer fruit may feel easier during unsettled periods; raw salads are fine when well tolerated.
Higher-fibre carbohydrates
Oats, barley, brown rice, quinoa, legumes, potato and wholegrain bread can provide energy and fibre. Increase fibre slowly and follow individual blood-glucose advice.
Fats and flavour
Olive oil, avocado, nuts and seeds can fit a balanced diet, but a large high-fat meal may be difficult for some people. Use smaller amounts if symptoms suggest it.
An example day that can scale up or down.
Eggs on wholegrain toast, or yoghurt with berries and oats.
A small salmon, chicken, tofu or bean bowl with vegetables and grain.
Fruit with yoghurt, cottage cheese, edamame or nuts.
Lean protein or legumes with cooked vegetables and a comfortable serve of carbohydrate.
This example is not a prescribed calorie or protein target. If you are unintentionally eating very little, losing strength, or struggling to meet nutrition needs, ask your clinician for individual assessment.
Large or rich meals.
Some people find large portions, fried food, very fatty dishes, alcohol or very sugary drinks harder to tolerate. That does not make them universally forbidden. Reduce the portion or frequency, record what happened, and seek advice if symptoms continue.
Eating slowly and stopping when comfortably satisfied can be more useful than forcing a fixed plate size.
Know when food advice is not enough.
Contact your healthcare professional when side effects persist, worsen, or prevent normal food and fluid intake. Seek urgent care for symptoms identified as urgent in your Consumer Medicine Information, including severe or persistent abdominal pain or a serious allergic reaction.
Tell your procedural and anaesthetic team that you take a GLP-1 medicine before surgery or deep sedation.
